Lighting Designer / Engineer


Location: Normanton, West Yorkshire
Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday. 8:30am to 5:30pm

We are looking for an experienced Lighting Designer /Engineer to join part of our team responsible for creating and providing a high standard of lighting designs and specifications to meet our customers’ requirements. You will be involved in the creating and designing of well-constructed plans, ensuring these meet building regulations whilst also providing a high level of knowledge and service to the customer.

About the Role
This role includes creating lighting designs and specifications to meet our customer requirements. Your daily duties will include:
  • Design and co-ordinate lighting projects from start to finish, using information provided to create a finished presentation for the customer;
  • Liaise with the client and other internal departments to discuss ideas, concepts and alternative solutions where required;
  • Prepare detailed plans using Relux, Dialux & AutoCad;
  • Ensure projects are finalised on the Lighting Design Project Log along with correspondence;
  • To produce Quantity Location Schedules and Layout drawings for larger schemes;
  • Send all design correspondence to the relevant Business Development Executive and External Sales Representative, to create the quote for the customer;
  • To provide administrative support to the Lighting Design Manager, distributing and managing workload between the team whilst prioritising urgent projects;
  • Brief and liaise with the Lighting Design Manager, Head of Technical and other departments to ensure projects meet the building regulations and compliance;
  • Work as a team to discuss and implement ideas on projects;

Desirable Skills
We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual who is keen to develop with a growing business. Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally, with close attention to detail;
  • Organisational and numerical skills to manage projects, budgets and specifications etc.;
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of lighting instruments, theory, electronics and software, staying up to date with the latest lighting technologies and compliance,
  • LIA Certificate Course or equivalent;
  • Excellent knowledge of computer packages Systems such as Relux, Dialux & AutoCad;
