Stewarts & Lloyds RFC, Corby

We recently attended a visit at Stewarts & Lloyds RFC, where our Skyline Powertron products were installed in order to update the lighting installation onsite.

Corby Rugby Football Club (later to be known as Stewarts & Lloyds) was officially formed in 1936, after the first match against Kettering in October 1935, and because Rugby was well established in Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties, little difficulty was found in arranging fixtures.

The club hasn't looked back in the 91 years since being formed, with the birth of junior sides and the signing of a 99 year lease at Occupation Road in 1991.

Today, the club is thriving, bringing a Ladies' team into existence in 2023 and updating their facilities through the lighting installation which we are sharing here.

Our lighting design recommended 12x Skyline Powertron 1200W Narrow Angle Beam (NAB) LED Floodlights, mounted to the existing 16m columns which were in place onsite. Additional shields were also recommended in order to minimise obtrusive light and glare.

The recommendations which we put forward were observed wonderfully at Stewarts & Lloyds, and the installation provided everything that the club were looking for. We worked closely with BED Corby on the project, and we are appreciative of their support on the project. A member of the BED team has been closely involved with the club for many years, and they stated that the prevention of spillage/obtrusive light to the nearby houses was a key reason for the lighting update onsite.

We are delighted with the end result at Stewarts & Lloyds, and we are pleased to have made a small contribution to the history of the club.
