Barrow AFC, Holker Street

BELL Lighting were the chosen manufacturer and supplier for this prestigious project, providing a tailored lighting solution fit for professional football. With a strong history dating back to 1901, Barrow AFC returned to the English Football League in June 2020, following their National League championship win, marking a major milestone for the club. The recent lighting and infrastructure upgrade at Holker Street is reflective of that same upward momentum.

A total of 24 Casambi Enabled Skyline Powertron 1800W Asymmetric LED Floodlights were expertly installed onto 30m columns at Holker Street. These powerful fittings were enhanced with additional light shields to reduce glare and limit obtrusive light – a key requirement for a ground located so close to residential areas. The result is a compliant, efficient, and high-performance solution, ideal for the demands of EFL League Two matchdays and televised coverage.

To complement the main installation, 5 Casambi Enabled Skyline Virtus Asymmetric LED Floodlights were also installed under the stadium canopies, mounted at 9.5m above ground level (AGL). This ensured uniform lighting throughout the playing area, particularly in areas requiring more nuanced illumination.

The project was supported throughout by our expert Lighting Design team, who provided a comprehensive lighting design tailored specifically to Holker Street. The design considered every detail – from lux levels and uniformity, to glare control and long-term efficiency – ensuring Barrow AFC received a lighting system which not only met professional standards but enhanced the overall experience for players, officials, and fans alike.

With full Casambi integration, Barrow AFC now has access to modern wireless lighting control – a feature which allows for flexibility and simple maintenance, while also future-proofing the system. From a product standpoint, the Skyline Powertron once again demonstrated why it is fast becoming one of the most trusted fittings for Sports Lighting projects.
