Birmingham Central Mosque

Birmingham Central Mosque is the second purpose-built mosque in the United Kingdom, constructed in 1969 and officially opening to the public in the early 1970s. It is one of Birmingham’s most prominent and widely recognised religious landmarks and, as a result, attracts a significant number of visitors each year.

Birmingham Central Mosque is open to visitors throughout the year and regularly welcomes groups from schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions seeking to learn more about the Mosque and the Islamic faith for educational and research purposes.

The Mosque is arranged across two floors and offers extensive facilities to support worship, education, and community engagement. During peak the Mosque accommodates up to 5,000 worshippers on-site, with attendance across multiple prayer services reaching between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors.

The Birmingham Central Mosque Grand Annex is a major expansion project, adding 67% more space, with areas such as a women's centre, youth facilities, an Islamic education institute, funeral services, modern amenities, and welfare support for the vulnerable; the expansion is designed to create a modern, multi-functional hub for the community.

An array of BELL Lighting products were recently installed onsite to support the project, with a total of 744 of our multi-award winning Firestay Geo® Sustainable Modular LED Downlights, 72 of our Arial Multi T-Pro LED Panels, and 37 of our Deco Grande LED Bulkheads supplied through City Electrical Factors, Birmingham Central.

Our products were installed by Pear Tree Services, with expert Sub-Contractor assistance, with the new additions expected to provide an estimated energy saving of around £95,000 over the lifetime of the involved fittings.

We would like to thank all parties involved in ensuring that the project was a success, with a further thanks to those who facilitated our visit to this reputable place of worship.
